Their daughter Amy and husband, Corey, have two children, Aubrey and Ally and their son William, and wife, Audrey have two children, Poppi and Colby.

Mrs. Newcomb attended SVCC at Keysville, and then re-ceived a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Longwood College in May of 1976. Mrs. Newcomb has devoted her entire career to Social Services. She started working at Lunenburg Department of Social Services on June 2, 1976 as an Eligibility Worker processing food stamps. By September of 1976 she became the only Social Worker for the Lunenburg County Department of Social Services. Later in her career she moved to Senior Social Worker and in December of 1991 she became Director, where she re-mains serving the people of Lunenburg County.

Throughout her 41-year career at Lunenburg DSS, Mrs. Newcomb has been working with PSR, either as an Advisory Board Member, a Board of Director’s Member or as a DSS worker, making referrals to our agency for her adult clients who were not eligible for services through DSS.

Mrs. Newcomb states her vision for PSR is to continue to improve the quality of life and enhance the rights of older residents of the seven counties we serve. PSR can accom-plish this by continuing to care for the residents with com-passion and integrity, as well as by administering a variety of direct services, provide funding for additional programs and promoting cooperation and coordination among all providers of service. Mrs. Newcomb states she is proud to have been a part of PSR for all these years and had the opportunity to see the growth of the agency.

Thank you, Mrs. Dorothy “Dotty” Newcomb, for your commitment and dedication!
